The goal of the project is to build social cohesion and community resilience, underpinned by shared values and civic responsibility. The project targets a very specific geographic location in the east of the country. The location context is that a history of inter-communal tension fomented by politics and incidents of politically instigated violence has built suspicion and a lack of trust among communities with the potential to spill-over into further violence. At the core of the intervention lies the building of trust between and among communities by harnessing memories of positive relations and shared values, and engaging multiple sectors – primarily politicians in improving the social and political context through collective action, with youth taking the lead in these processes.
